Julia Roberts is the new face of Givenchy.

The ‘Pretty Woman’ actress stars in the brand’s spring campaign which focuses on classic styling and includes box jackets, lace shirts and smart tuxedo dresses.

Julia was cast as the face of the luxury label by its creative director Riccardo Tisci, who is thrilled to have teamed up with the 47-year-old star and believes she represents the “very powerful woman” embodied in the mood of the collection.

He told WWD: “The mood of the show was about this very powerful woman, and Julia represents this very much.

“She represents the couture part. It’s important to show your iconic work. I want to build what is the real classic wardrobe.

“She really represents my woman. She’s got a really strong sense of fun and is very open.

“She’s incredible as a woman. I love her so much: She’s funny, ironic, intelligent, cultured – everything.”

The Italian-born fashion designer wanted to keep the campaign – which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott – as “honest” as possible and insists the “pure” and “serious” styling presents the Oscar winner in a “fresh, new way”.

He explained: “I decided to make her more intellectual, more serious, more pure. It’s a different, fresh, new way to see Julia – really cool and urban, I think.

“I like reality in campaigns. Today I think it’s very modern to be real. I don’t want to show only the clothes of the show, but also what you really sell…. I think it’s a very honest campaign.”

The shoot is set to appear in a variety of international fashion titles including Vogue, Grazia, Elle, Marie Claire and GQ, as well as Purple, V, Interview, CR Fashion Book, System and Love, in March next year.
