Tetley Tea has insured their chief blender’s taste buds for Sh142 million (£1million).

The beverage manufacturer has spent the hefty amount in case the 32-year-old employee loses his expert ability to create the perfect brew.

Sebastian Michaelis – who joined the company in 2005 – has an acute sense of taste meaning he is able to identify and grade one of 1,500 varieties of tea within 15 seconds.

The costly deal – which works out at £100 for each of his 10,000 taste buds – is the same amount as ‘9 to 5’ singer Dolly Parton’s policy to insure her breasts.
