Pawn Stars: Hit TV show gets a South African version

South Africa is getting its own version of History Channel’s hit television show, Pawn Stars.

Currently in production, Pawn Stars South Africa is slated to debut on Africa’s leading Pay TV provider, MultiChoice Africa, on October 14th.

Pawn Stars UK frontmen Simon Penworth and Mark Manning of Regal Pawn – a pawn shop located on the outskirts of Chester, where the hit reality-tv show is filmed – were recently in Trou aux Biches Resort & Spa, Mauritius, at MultiChoice Africa’s first ever Content Extravanganza.

One of the biggest shows to date shown on History Channel, much like an actual pawn shop, Pawn Stars UK has a little bit of everything: unbelievable artifacts, absurd stories, hilarious family banter and surprise jackpots.

The British show seen on History Channel (DStv 186) features distinctly British items and artifacts with a rich, historical heritage. Similar to its American counterpart, Pawn Stars, chronicles the daily activities of a family business-owned pawn shop.

Pawn Stars South Africa is expected to take on the same format produced by Rapid Blue.
