African accommodation marketplace, SleepOut.com, has announced a ‘Zanzibar to Lagos African Tour’ beginning in June on the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar.

The team made up of Johann Jenson (CEO), Paul Schwarz (CTO) and Ayako Bertolli (Head of Photography) will be accompanied in each destination by travel photographers and local accommodation experts. Their goal is to visit 10 top SleepOut destinations in Sub-Saharan Africa over a 12-week period.

“In September 2013, SleepOut.com was available in only 5 countries. Today, 10 months down the line, we now work with hosts in 56 countries. We feel that it is very important that we spend time working closely with the SleepOut community to better understand how we can improve the user experience to make accommodation booking on the continent even easier,” remarked Jenson.

Major stops along the tour include Dar es Salaam, Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg, Durban and Lagos. Throughout the 3-month tour, the team aims to meet SleepOut accommodation hosts and travelers while verifying hundreds of the coolest and most unique accommodation in Africa.

“From castles in Kenya to houseboats in Zimbabwe, the ‘SleepOut from Zanzibar to Lagos African Tour’ is all about spending more time with the hosts and travelers that make SleepOut a truly unique and made-in-Africa product,” added Jenson.

In addition to participating in a number of speaking events, the roaming executive team will meet with fast growing communities of SleepOut accommodation hosts and travelers in each destination.
