Your waist measurement can determine your health

BMI Waist Measurement

Did you know that the size of your waist can determine a whole lot of health related issues? For instance, the size of your waist can tell whether you are overweight and if you need to lose some weight. If you carry too much weight around your middle section you could be at a greater risk of developing coronary heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Find out if you are at risk by measuring your waist:

#Find the top of your hip bone and the bottom of your ribs

#Breathe out naturally

#Place the tape measure midway between these points  and wrap it around your waist

#Read your measurement

Your health is at risk if you have a waist of:

Men : Your health  is at risk if your waist measures more than 37 inches and at a high risk if your waist measures 40 inches and above.

Women: Your health is at risk if your waist measures 31.5 inches and at a high risk if your waist measures about 34.5 and over.

For Asians it is a different story since Asian backgrounds tend to have a higher proportion of body fat to muscle which unfortunately they carry around the middle. Therefore Asians with a waist size of 35.5 for men and 31.5 for women are in the high risk bracket of developing problems such as diabetes and coronary heart disease.
