Musician Atemi and radio presenter Kalekye Mumo were among the celebrity guests who showed up to support Kenyan jazz band Different Faces on Tuesday evening. In addition to industry notables, the weekly jazz night, which took place at Slims in Nairobi, Kenya, brought out swarms of music fans, many of whom admitted to showing up after hearing rumblings of a surprise visit by Grammy award-winning R&B musician Anthony Hamilton.
“See you on Saturday!” promised Hamilton as he wrapped up his surprise performance of hits ‘Pass me over’ and ‘Best of me,’ which sent swooning fans into a frenzy at the intimate lounge.
Dressed in a black crisp shirt and fitted red trousers, together with his band, Hamilton serenaded the crowd, a plethora of cheers confirmed the surprise appearance of Hamilton on stage. Hamilton moved around with ease, sharing vocals and holding out the microphone to let the audience fill in occasional lines.
Hamilton addressed the crowd one last time: “You guys are coming on Saturday right?! Thanks Nairobi,” leaving everyone in-house – especially those who still haven’t scored tickets to Saturday’s The Tusker lite Experience with Anthony Hamilton concert at Carnivore Grounds – wanting more.
