Scandinavians have always been known as progressive thinkers when it comes to social issues, but following a new court ruling, the Swedes are also proving to be tolerant with specifically public masturbation.

Setting a new legal precedent, a Swedish court has ruled that masturbation is acceptable in public, as long as the sexual act is not directed at anyone

A 65-year-old Stockholm man was caught masturbating on a public beach.  Originally charged with sexual assault, he was acquitted by the Södertörn District Court.

“We can conclude that it is okay to masturbate on the beach. [Although] the act may be considered to be disorderly conduct,” public prosecutor Olof Vrethammar told Swedish news website, The Local, adding, “We can conclude that it is okay to masturbate on the beach. [Although] the act may be considered to be disorderly conduct.”
