Sleep: This is a very important aspect for every human being, especially for a person who is fasting. If one has an aim to wake up for the pre-dawn meal, he or she should ensure that he has enough sleep (as long as 7 to 8 hours) before the time for suhur.

Water and dates:Water and dates are very essential if one has to keep alert and energetic during the day of fasting. Drinking a lot of water during suhur and dinner (when breaking the fasting), also known as iftar, will allow the system to cleanse itself, and will stop one from dehydration. Dates are usually eaten the moment one breaks their fast, but dates should also be taken during suhur. The natural sweetness of Dates provide instant energy.

Avoid eating to a full stomach at iftar: When breaking the fast it is no healthy to the body to eat too much at once after a whole day of fasting.

Fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are both healthy and can help a person to control the cravings he or she has for food. One should make it a habit to eat fruits and vegetables for iftar so that they don’t eat too much and irritate the stomach. Fruits  also help if one wants to lose weight and that cannot be possible if one eats too much to make up for the day.
