Cycling has increasingly become the preferred mode of transport for many in the World, including in Kenya, especially with the infamous gridlocks.

Road safety or the lack of in Kenya, still prevents many from taking up cycling.  Inconsiderate drivers share the roads with daring bikers that weave in and out of traffic.

But for those willing to get on the road with their bicycles, helmets are a necessity.  However, you will commonly find some cyclists riding in the bustling streets of Nairobi without any head protection.  Reasons ranging from bicycle helmets are unfashionable, uncomfortable, and bulky to carry around.

Design students Anna and Terese took on a giant challenge as an exam project. Something no one had done before.

Their revolutionary Invisible Bicycle Helmet, similar to an automobile airbag, self inflates upon impact to encapsulate the head of the rider and wears like a simple jacket collar.
