Harry Kimani drops new track ahead of Sunday show

Troubled singer Harry Kimani has released a fresh new single off his latest album Travelling Man, in an attempt to return to the music scene after a lengthy silence.

Harry’s single Nataka Kusema has a familiarity to it, though in a style slightly removed from his usual laid back stringing. I would classify it as a Kenyan country song, with an infusion of piano and saxophone notes.

The song that was uploaded on Sound Cloud on Wednesday, is still a love story, and as usual for Harry, well told.

Nataka Kusema is one of 12 tracks that will make up Travelling Man, and its release comes in good time – just days before he makes a comeback on the 38th edition of Blankets and Wine this weekend. Have a listen and rate it.

Harry Kimani is slotted in with Fena Gitu of the Africa Massive fame to perform at the Leisure Gardens on Sunday, October 7.

Juliani will be making yet another appearance and not as supporting cast, while Kombo will be having his maiden show at the monthly gathering of music lovers.

Nairobi based Burundian musician Kidum, was scratched from the line-up after his passport was confiscated in Canada.

In an apparent tussle with promoters in the North American country, police seized his passport to prevent his travel until the matter was settled.

“He had nothing to do with the drama. But he may have to perform one more show to help the promoters sort out their issues,” said manager R Kay.

Kidum is expected back in the country next week.
