The annual Trendz Kenya Fashion Festival (TKFF) will take place on July 14th Poolside at The Tribe Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.

TKFF is a platform for Designers, Exhibitors/Retailers, Models from East Africa and the rest of the world to showcase their creativity, market their art and network with potential clientele.

Now into its third year, TKFF 2012 promises to be bigger and better with the evening’s gala event being showcased to the entire world, streamed live on Capital TV.

DESIGNER PROFILE: John Kaveke

John Kaveke studied fashion design in Kenya and in Spain. He worked for other fashion labels for 4 years before he started his own fashion label ‘Kaveke’.

He has grown to create a name for himself in the fashion industry and is known all over Africa and beyond.

Kaveke has established himself as the Kenyan men’s designer that everyone must watch out for. He calls his work contemporary and this he explains is because his designs border between African and European styles.

He uses beadwork and uses also a variety of fabrics like leather, denim, suede, knitwear, tie and dye, cotton, linen, silk and even recycled fabrics. His garments therefore are for people who want to show off their impeccable charm and style.

Doing men’s fashion came as a result of him looking for a challenge as every designer around was dealing with women’s clothes.

Last year, Kaveke was invited to showcase at the London Fashion Week. He has also participated in other big fashion events like the International Smirnoff Fashion Awards, Swahili Fashion Week, FAFA Kenya 2008 and 2009, Arise Magazine Fashion Week, National Dress design team, Sarajevo Fashion Week, Catwalk Kenya among others.
