Windsor jazz concert set for June 30th

Ultra-talented Ugandan saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa heads to Kenya next month for the JAZZ Under The Stars concert, slated for June 30.

Katumwa will headline the show, which will also feature female trumpeter Christine Kamau and the Different Faces Jazz Band among others.

The event at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club has been organized by KenyanDiasporaLink.com and the Love Jam Jazz Festival.

Radio jazz maestro Jack Ojiambo will be the emcee for the night and jazz music lovers will also be treated to some thrilling Body Art by Muthoni Njoba.

The event will be set literally under the stars, and attendants will have the option of bringing foldable lawn chairs or cosy cushions with them to make their experience as enjoyable as possible.

Tickets for the 5pm-10pm concert will retail at Sh2,000 and 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to AMREF.

Katumwa, who has been touted as one of East Africa’s finest jazz musicians, has more than 10 albums to his name, the latest being a collection of his songs merged under the title ‘African Smoothie’.

The Christian musician has performed in nearly every continent in the world and has been nominated for several awards.

Christine Kamau on the other hand is seen as a rising star, and has been featured by the BBC.

Organisers say fans can get ready to enjoy stars on stage, and all for a good cause as well.

Capital FM are the media sponsors for the event, while the Windsor Hotel is a platinum sponsor.
