Samsung Galaxy SIII to hit stores in Kenya by June

The Samsung Galaxy SIII that was launched in London yesterday and is due to roll out to other parts of the world in June, is expected to touch down in Nairobi later this month thanks to tech-crazed Kenyans.

The local Samsung office says the first phones are expected towards the end of May.

“We already have orders and first stocks shall be in the country from the last week of this month,” according to Samsung East Africa Deputy MD Robert Ngeru who spoke to Capital Lifestyle today.

The new edition of the Samsung Galaxy comes barely since the launch of the Galaxy SII and hot on the heels of news that the Korean company had overtaken market leaders Nokia in handset sales.

Samsung has managed to coin a reputation as an easy-to-use phone with cool complicated features available for those who care to venture.

The new SIII seems to make their case even easier; with features such as S Voice, social tag, direct call, S Beam, Smart Alert and the 4.8 HD Super AMOLED.

The S Voice is like a talking phone that can also hear you speak, which is usually what we want as human beings living in the modern world. This feature goes a step further than what phones do now in reading messages out loud.

Some of the things you can do with the S Voice include telling your phone to turn off the alarm for a few minutes and let you sleep a bit more, answer or reject a call, adjust the volume on your music and even tell the camera when to shoot.

Direct call is a feature that lets you call the person you are messaging. With the SIII all you need to do mid-sms is raise the phone to your ear and let your phone do the calling.

Another cool feature we though to highlight at Capital Lifestyle is the Smart alert. This is simply a brief vibrate nudge to let you know once you pick up your phone that you have missed a few calls and sms’ etc. Samsung is of the opinion that they are being very thoughtful.

Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think? Is this SIII man enough to give the iPhone some strong competition? Prices will be announced at a later date.
