Ladies and adoring fans of the award-winning R&B star John Legend will have to shed a tear as the singer-songwriter has popped the question to his long-term girlfriend model Chrissy Teigen while vacationing in the Maldives over the holidays.

Dating since 2007, Legend and Teigen have successfully kept their relationship low-profile and out of the limelight. The news of the couples’ engagement came as a surprise for most of Legend’s fans.

Teigen, a 26 year old model, has appeared in popular magazines such as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues and Maxim.

Nine-time Grammy winner, Legend is currently working on his new solo album set to be released in 2012.
