Jiko, Tribe Hotel’s new swanky signature restaurant has officially opened its doors! With a warmer ambience and refined look, the Jiko team hopes to attract Nairobian foodies with their impressive presentation and fresh local ingredients.

Executive Chef Luca Molteni and his team have definitely raised the bar of Tribe’s distinctive culinary direction.

“I always try to incorporate local and simple ingredients and turn them into something special. Cooking is my passion and my whole life,” Chef Molteni commented on the new Jiko menu.

Chef Molteni’s passion is definitely easily interpreted through the exquisite presentation and flawless execution of each dish.

Classic Caesar salad with anchovies, bacon, croutons and Parmesan cheese. Capital Lifestyle absolutely loved the presentation with the the hand-blown glass.

Tomato soup with basil-ricotta flan. Savoury and comforting!

Spicy seafood stew with crayfish, mussels, prawns and a selection of local fish. This soup was definitely greater than the sum of its parts!

Starter: Fried baby calamari with fennel, orange and capers. The orange sections were juicy and bursting with natural sweetness, which was complemented perfectly with the balsamic reduction.

Fresh Calil Lilies certainly make a warm table setting.

Poached Boston lobster sandwich with fresh bean sprouts, lemon-ginger mayonnaise on brioche. The chips or fries were full of flavours of organic potatoes!

Homemade Lasagna with bechamel, beef ragout and parmesan. Lasagna is usually very heavy, however this one was as light as any pasta dish could be. Delicious!

Grilled jumbo prawns with baby artichokes and garlic butter sauce. The butter sauce was not overpowering and the prawn was cooked perfectly!
