Kenya International Film Festivals ready for entries

The annual Kenya International Film festivals will be held in October 21st to 31st, 2011.

The Kenya international Film Festival commonly known as KIFF is an event that celebrates the achievements of filmmakers worldwide. It recognizes exemplary performance and successes of the film sector. The festival also aims to encourage innovation, creativity and intellectual interaction among film lovers, producers, critics across the globe.

The KIFF is calling on Kenyan’s with films to send them to the KIFF. The KIFF through its panel of judges will select the best films and air them in multiple towns. Last year KIFF screened films in Mombasa and Kisumu. This year, KIFF has decided that for the first time the festival will also have screenings in Eldoret and Nakuru.

The theme of this year’s festival which will be held in Nairobi is “Leadership – the next generation.”

Some of the categories that KIFF is accepting entries from include; Long Features, Documentaries, Short Features, Animation, Student Films and Experimental Films to be featured at this year’s event

The KIFF will award winners in all the categories as well as Best East Africa film, Jury Award, Best actor and Best actress. The organization is holding its sixth annual festival since its inception. The festival is a unique array of 10 days that showcases best film entries from all over the world in various towns and countries.

The ten day film bonanza has already attracted a record 250 films from 35 countries. This year the festival is expected to screen a total of 365 films from over 50 countries. KIFF is still calling for films from Kenyan’s and will close entries in two weeks.
