Blanco’s Sports Grill opens in Karengata

February 11, 2011 – Fancy a Ferrari and McLaren salad? Sports fanatics can stop feeling like random EPL supporters are cramping their style with the launch of Blanco’s Sports Grill @ The Galleria Mall.

The man behind the Blanco’s concept Leonard Mudachi calls it a “revolutionary sports viewing entertainment restaurant”.

And that it is. From Saturday (Feb 12) instead of ‘Manyake’ there will be all sizes of screens, 29 of them, divided between six zones within the new Blanco’s.

“You will be able to watch six different sporting events at the same time,” brags Mudachi, who adds that if Man U is playing Arsenal and you don’t feel the love, you can watch cricket!

Among the many screens are desktop monitors of sorts where you can plug in headphones and watch by your lonesome – just in case other fans are shouting a bit too loud.

“This will definitely change how Kenyans watch sport,” says Leonard, who is an ardent fan of the sport that is rugby, and who has promised to support local sports as well.

While football is the main sport of choice in Kenya, others like Rugby, Cricket, Basketball, Golf, Formula 1, Moto GP, Boxing and Tennis are not too far behind.

“And it is this passion and following that BSG intends to tap into,” says the management.

Instead of popcorn, Blanco’s Sports Grill (BSG) will have steaks, burgers and all sorts of continental dishes on offer alongside a generous array of beers, spirits, cocktails, wines and did I say beers?

The establishment is the second in the Blanco’s chain, and word is there will be a third one somewhere on Jogoo Road soon.

Quick stats: 5,300 square feet, 300 ingredients, 100 beverages, 29 screens, 6 zones, 1 venue.
