October 22, 2010 – Award winning songstress Amani leaves the country this weekend after being chosen as part of the MyOne8 group of artists from around Africa.

The grouping of eight musicians is all set to record a track and video with an international artist from the US of A – more specifically, from Chicago.

The singer is very high profile and sings R&B and Hip Hop. Sounds a bit like R Kelly right? At least, that’s what we think. What do you think?

Anyway, Amani aka Cecilia Wairimu spoke to journalists on Mashujaa Day about her trip.

“It’s going to be a long term deal,” she revealed, excited.

When asked why she thinks she was chosen, Amani said: “I think it’s because of my past achievements…”

Amani has topped the charts on several occasions and has impressed judges at MTV enough into winning a MAMA award last year. It is therefore no wonder that she has been chosen alongside the likes of Fally Ipupa, 2 Face Indiba, Ali Kiba and other artists picked randomly from various countries in the continent, to record one MEGA track.

“We will be shooting a video as well. And I will bring to the table what the Kenyan music scene has to offer,” she assured her fans.

MyOne8 is an initiative of the RockStar4000 record label, which is an affiliate of Sony.

Emily Kaiga of Corporate Talk who are handling their PR said that this is going to be a big one.

“It is a sterling opportunity to put African music on the global scene. And with artists like the ones chosen, there is no doubt that they have among the very best that Africa has to offer.”

Amani is excited that the venture will transcend borders.

“The project will conclude on the last week of November and the song is expected to be out in early December.”

The singer was mum about her upcoming album and producers Ogopa Deejays say it will be nothing that anyone expects!
