Robbie Williams marries US actress

August 9, 2010 – British pop star Robbie  Williams has married the US actress and longtime partner Ayda Field, whom he credits with making him a “more centred person,” his spokesman said on Sunday.

Williams, 36, who recently rejoined Take That, tied the knot on Saturday in Los Angeles with Field, 31, who has starred in such US television shows as “Days of Our Lives”, “Back to You” and “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”.

“Robbie Williams and Ayda Field were married yesterday, August 7, in a ceremony held in the grounds of the home they share in Los Angeles,” said Williams’ spokesman Murray Chalmers.

Newspapers in London carried pictures of marquees set up in the grounds.

“At last, Rob is happy. That’s what you want for your kids and this is the happiest I’ve seen him,” the singer’s father Pete Williams said, the News of the World newspaper reported.

“Ayda is so beautiful and so delightful and so lovely and just so right for him. They are brilliant together.”

Williams parted company in 1995 with Take That, a boy band which dominated the British pop scene in the 1990s, for a successful solo career during which he dated a string of fellow pop stars and Hollywood actresses.

Meeting Field, a Los Angeles native who has been his partner for several years, helped to calm the heart-throb’s hellraiser ways.

“She’s got a lot to do with the way I am. She has made me a more centred person and I am better to myself,” he told The Sun last year. “I don’t think I was ever a horrible or mean person, but I was disgusting to myself.”

Williams proposed to Field last November live on an Australian radio show. News reports said their swiftly-arranged wedding came too soon for other Take That members to attend.
