Vqee to launch album "Halua"

May 12, 2010 – Danish based-Kenyan singer VQEE launches her debut album in Nairobi next Friday.

VQEE and her 10-man band will hit the stage at the Alliance Francaise Gardens for the grand release of HALUA, which is made in a genre she describes as Afro pop with obvious Kenyan sounds.

According to a statement from Gatwitch records, her 15-track album HALUA together

with producer Claus Seest took three years to complete.

In the meantime, she has featured in several shows including curtain raising for Magic System in Copenhagen, and Nameless in Stockholm, Sweden.

Besides her music, VQEE also cast in the EMMY award winning Danish TV series ‘LIVVAGTERNE'(The Protectors), in an episode that aired in March this year.

Before leaving for Denmark in 2006, she was part of Heartstrings Kenya.

Currently, she has 2 videos out ‘Wachilia’ and ‘Tamati’, which are enjoying massive airplay especially in Denmark and France.vqee_533698583.jpg

Here are her accolades: In 1997, she got a special mention at the Mbalamwezi Theatre Awards which led to her being granted sponsorship by the British Council and the Royal Danish Embassy to join Agoro Theatre Company in Ghana as a guest student.

She spent 6 months learning and sharing her music and dance with her diverse counterparts from Ghana, Holland, England, Germany and Denmark.

During her time in Ghana, she was privileged to perform at the residence

of the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and at the MASA International Festival in Abidjan, Ivory Coast as a dancer and singer under the Resident Company.

In 2000, she was picked to join the prestigious UCLA summer program in Media and Production in California, USA.
