UK author nabs O'Connor Prize, the world's richest short story award

British author Simon Van Booy won the world’s richest short story award, the Frank O’Connor International Story Prize, for his collection Love Begins in Winter.

Van Booy was awarded the €35,000 prize at a ceremony in Cork, Ireland, on September 20.

The collection of five stories focuses on different types of love, according to UK newspaper The Guardian.

Previous recipients of the award include famed authors Haruki Murakami and Jhumpa Lahiri.
