Seven hundred stores across New York City will participate in the Fashion Night’s Out event on September 10 designed to push fashion retail through a series of initiatives including late opening hours, workshops and games.

US Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, designer Michael Kors, a surprise celebrity guest and the cast of the musical Hair will kick off the “festivities” at department store Macy’s at 5pm, six hours before participating shops will close. The surprise guest must be someone other than supermodel Cindy Crawford, rapper P Diddy, or actor Hugh Jackman, all of whom have already confirmed their presence.

Knitting and customizing workshops are also part of the program, as are promotions and fashion games led by figures such as designer Donna Karan or Wintour’s right-hand André Leon Talley.

Shoppers will be able to win tickets to runway shows, free haircuts, and a custom-made wedding dress by designer Carolina Herrera through various contests.

Over all, 13 countries are part of the activities worldwide. (French Vogue just released France’s participating designers last week.) Here are all participating countries and their respective Fashion’s Night Out websites:
