Dear Friends,
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing on of Alexandra Ajowi (Baby Lexy) at the Nairobi Hospital on Tue, 17th of July 2012. Baby Lexy is now the fourth cancer victor that we have lost as the Africa Cancer Foundation.
Baby Lexy, the daughter of Dr Angela Awino McLigeyo and Dr Denis Otieno, was diagnosed with Leukemia in November, 2010 while admitted at the Nairobi Hospital. After undergoing numerous surgeries including a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in India, Lexy was finally declared cancer-free in October 2011. Since then, Lexy has been in and out of hospital fighting various complications arising from her compromised immunity from all the treatments and surgeries she had to undergo. Her most recent admission at the Nairobi Hospital saw her stay in ICU for 2 weeks suffering from liver, kidney and blood difficulties which she finally succumbed to on July 17, 2012. Lexy was only 4 years old.
To show our support, we’d like to urge all of you to join us this evening, Friday 20th July, 2012 at the All Saint’s Cathedral from 5:00pm as the family hold a Fundraiser to raise Kshs. 4.5 million to offset Lexy’s hospital bills.
