Student lands endorsement deal after run and drink beer race

beer run

There are peculiar competitions and just down right ridiculous contests. In the US, the beer mile attracts hundreds of competitors who are required to run four quarter mile laps while taking a bottle of beer after every lap. If you vomit, you lose points. Just four bottles? you ask. Its not that easy. The best recorded time is 4 min 51 secs held by 22 year-old student Lewis Kent.

It turns out some brands were watching the growing competition which has grown to countries like Ghana and Singapore but is believed to have started in Canada. Kent has landed an endorsement deal to promote Brooks sports shoes and apparel.

ESPN says the company did not disclose how much the deal was worth but revealed the endorsement value is higher than amateur runners but less than Olympic athletes.
