A 5th year KU engineering student, Vincent Kiplagat was shot on Friday night by a rogue police officer at the campus. The incident happened  during the at the fresher’s night that was going down at the student’s annex. The late Vincent was one of the bouncers at the event. The rogue police officer went violent on Vincent after being denied entry. The police officer fired three shots; one on the ground, one on Vincent and one in the air according to an eye witness. He was immediately wrestled to the ground by other students and beaten.

Only students with school IDs were being allowed entry. Security had been beefed up at this particular event due to the tendency of outsiders gatecrashing KU events. Students turned on the police officer after the incident and beat him up. The officer was arrested but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
