The Journey To Canaan As Narrated By Kenyans On Twitter

Presidential aspirant Raila Odinga’s creative metaphor for his election win with the Biblical story of the Israelites journey from Egypt to Canaan has generated a lot of buzz. Perpetuated by an easy online quiz on Testony, that had participants put in their details to find out if they would be lucky enough to get into the promised land, it is fair to say that the Canaan narrative captured discussions off and online.

Now as Kenyans await the presentation of results, it seems that Kenyans On Twitter have much to say on the journey to Canaan based on Odinga ‘s success at the polls. Likening himself to Joshua, from the Biblical tale of the Israelites journey into the land of milk and honey. Written in Joshua chapter 1:1-3 “After the death of the Lord’s servant Moses, the Lord spoke to Moses’ helper, Joshua son of Nun. He said, β€œMy servant Moses is dead. Get ready now, you and all the people of Israel, and cross the Jordan River into the land that I am giving them. As I told Moses, I have given you and all my people the entire land that you will be marching over.”

K.O.T needed little encouragement to comment of the journey to Canaan as the results of the national elections are presented. Here are some of the funniest tweets on the journey into the land of milk and honey.

Some were disappointed with what they hoped would be in the Promised Land.

Others on Twitter lamented on the indecision on the electoral process, as they await the final results.

On the claims of the hacked digital electoral process, some doubt the contradictory statements on poor tallying and transmission of results.

Some have even concluded that the journey to Canaan may never be a reality. However, it is too early to be certain, it is wiser to wait for the full results.
