Strathmore University Director of Communication Betty Ngala says more than 20 students and 2 staff members are currently admitted at various hospitals over food poisoning complications. 11 are currently admitted at Nairobi West hospital.

The students and staff fell sick after 300 final year student’s party at the University main campus organized by the school. The administration said the catering service was outsourced from a supplier.

Ms Ngala says the university has launched investigations and food samples taken to various laboratories for test.

A Dr Bansal Kaur of Nairobi West says it was serious food poisoning and that some students tested positive for typhoid and protozoa.
