NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 11 – It was all ears on the ground in most parts of the country, and not any different in Nairobi slums ahead of the announcement of the presidential election results Friday.
Most residents of city slums, majority of them male youths, were seen in groups talking in low tones.
Police presence was high to ensure law and order prevailed before and after the much awaited announcement by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
In Kawangware despite heightened anxiety, sanity has prevailed.
“We just want peace,” the youths would be heard saying.
Some ganged up to disperse those who were violent claiming “they are outsiders who only wanted to cause chaos.
