, Just how clean is your house? Cleaning up after yourself and the kids need not be a chore, all you need to do is just take a little more care and you will keep diseases and bacteria at bay. Here is a few tips on how to keep your home and surfaces around the house clean and spotless.
This is probably the most important room of the house. Some if not most of us are messy cooks and a typical cooking session will involve grease splatters, crumbs on the floor and a pile of dirty dishes. Try this: Instead of walking all the way to the garbage can as you cook, keep a bowl on the counter so that you can consolidate all your kitchen waste there. Clean up as you go, do not pile everything up and clean later. Anything that falls on the floor, pick it up immediately. If you notice any spills or sticky messes, clean them up before they attract more dirt. After doing the dishes, take a minute to actually dry the sink, to leave it nice, clean and dry. Clean out the counter top when up leave the kitchen to reduce the spread the germs and keep the place looking good.
The golden rule of having clean floors is to leave your shoes at the door. Shoes track in mud, gum, dirt, debris, faeces, leaves and anything else that you might have picked up as you went along with your day. If you leave your shoes at the door, you won’t have to clean the floors very often. Ceramic floors will be cleaned by nothing more than a good mop and some detergent.
Bathrooms and toilets.
Clean your bath tub, sink or shower every day immediately after you shower by giving them a little scrub and a quick rinse. For a major clean, apply a perfumed multi-purpose cleaner on the surface to be cleaned and let sit for about 10 minutes then scrub with a brush, and rinse. The golden trick is not to not leave a stain unattended. A stain will only attract more dirt and stains that will be harder to clean up. Wipe down shower doors to remove any spots or droplets of water. Change the shower curtain out at lean twice a month to avoid the build-up of scum and mildew.
Carpets and rugs
They do add character to a room, if not well cleaned can also harbor tiny insects and accumulate dust, which could be the source of that cough that just won’t go away. So how do you clean them? Thank heavens for Vacuum cleaners because they will do all the work for you. If that is not an option, invest in a carpet brush and that should do the trick. To get rid of bad odors, sprinkle powdered deodorizer or perfumed carpet powder on the rug or carpet and leave for about 15 minutes. Then vacuum after to eliminate the powder, dirt and dust.
Make your bed; this will take you a maximum of two minutes. Spread the duvet nicely and fluff the pillows, this could totally change the way your room looks. Fold and hang clothes and put away jewelry as you take them off. Resist the urge to toss stuff around and you will see a massive change in the way your room looks. Keeping things neat and tidy will save you time when you need to get dressed up in a hurry. Make use of the laundry basket to put away dirty clothing, this will help you know what needs washing and what doesn’t.
Turn the radio up and dance as you clean and you just might surprise yourself with how much you can get done.
