NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 13- The Country is set to host as many as 2,000 visitors at a high-level meeting on development this month on 28th to December 1, in a further boost to the tourism industry.

State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu says the second high level of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation will bring key investors in various fields to Nairobi.

“The meeting will seek to enhance positive impact of development cooperation’s by taking stock of the implementation of internationally agreed principles of development cooperation through ownership of development priorities by developing countries,” he stated.

“The key thing about developing countries is that previously the agenda set for them has come from those providing money for these developments but increasingly, Africa has sought to lead its own growth.”

The continued major conferences within the city are going to boost the country’s economy according to the State House spokesperson.

He noted that Kenya’s Gross Domestic Product growth remains on course at 6 percent in 2016 compared to 0.5 percent in South Africa, -0.4 percent in Nigeria and well above Africa’s average.

“Our economy is robust and it is out performing its peers on the African continent,” he stated.

He attributed the growth to the continued recovery of the tourism industry, financial and real estate growth among other economic areas.
