NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 9 – CMC Motors Holding Board of Directors has appointed Wanjohi Kangangi as Managing Director.

Kangangi was previously the Hino General Manager, Toyota Kenya where he led the team that launched Hino in Kenya.

Prior to that, he worked for 16 years at General Motors East Africa in various capacities including Logistics, Imports, Production Control, Marketing and Customer Relations, Sales and After Sales.

Under the company structure, Kangangi will work closely with the company’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Kass.

“We are delighted to have a leader of Kangangi’s calibre and experience come on board. The search was long and rigorous to get to the right candidate but we are very pleased with the outcome. Al-Futtaim’s policy is to have our various businesses run by local talent and Kenya is no exception,” said Chief Executive Officer Mark Kass.

The move comes at a time when the firm is re-positioning itself in the Kenyan market targeting government business.

The firm in April launched six 2016 Ford models cars in the Kenyan Market.

The six 2016 Ford vehicles are Ford Everest, Ford Fusion, Ford Figo, Ford Ranger, Ford Transit and Ford Kuga.

The newly launched vehicles target the ever growing middle class, county governments, state corporations, farmers and individuals.

CMC Motors was acquired by Al-Futtaim in 2014 at Sh7.6 billion and was de-listed  from Nairobi Securities Exchange in February 2015.
