The Use of white
Do not use white if you have kids or pets running around. Sure, white gives the house a nice and clean feel, but you will have to constantly worry about keeping your walls and upholstery spotless.
Find Inspiration from your travels.
Travel as much as you can and find inspiration for decoration wherever you go. You might find a great floor plan or a design that you will love or a new way to experiment with color.
Don’t be afraid to splurge
We all make that one large purchase for our houses every once in a while. Invest in one quality piece; it may hurt at the beginning but it will end up carrying a room and really stay with you for a long time.
Draw the eye with an interesting piece
You must have that one thing in the room that will draw attention and make your space more desirable. When you walk to the end of a corridor, you want something interesting to draw you to the end.
Do not go overboard.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. There is a fine line between great decoration with fine pieces and clutter. Remember, less is more.
Don’t be square
While symmetry can portray order and calm, too much of everything can make a room feel static – so shake things up!
Comfort and harmony are essential.
