For instance, 82 percent say broadcast has led to the increase sexual immorality in the society, while 78 percent say broadcast has led to the acceptance of violence in the society.

Broadcast has also led to the justification of personal violence at 73 percent and the use of offensive language by children at 85 percent.

The study was conducted in line with finding out how local free to air stations were fairing in their quest of achieving the forty percent of airing local content stipulated by the law. It was also ahead of the implementation of the programming code which kicks off July 1st.

“The broadcasters that we surveyed spoke openly about the challenges they face which include the high cost of production. She therefore recommended for stakeholders in the industry to join hands and promote the industry by bringing down the cost of production.
