NAIROBI, Kenya, June 6 – Airtel Kenya Monday launched a new consumer offer targeting mobile subscribers seeking to get more value from newly purchased mobile telephone lines in the Kenyan market.

The new proposition dubbed “Karibu Airtel”, meaning “Welcome to Airtel” targets first time customers joining the network with the purchase of a new SIM card.

It is bundled with every top up of Sh20 or Sh50 and above on a new sim card purchased from any of its shops and dealers anywhere in Kenya. ‎The Karibu Airtel offer is valid for the first month of use of the new sim card.

Karibu Airtel will welcome customers topping up airtime worth Sh50 and above on their new sim card with Sh30 for calls & SMS ‎to any network in Kenya and 30MB of data all valid for 7 days. Customers also get FREE access to WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter during the same period.

A customer can dial the short code *131*209# to check their balance for Karibu Airtel 50.

Customers who choose to top up airtime worth Sh20 on their new sim card get Sh10 for calls & SMS ‎to any network in Kenya and 10MB of data all valid for 3 days. Customers also get FREE access to WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter during the same period. One can dial the short code *131*207# to check their balance for Karibu Airtel 20.

Customers will get an SMS indicating the allocation of the bonus and the USSD code to check the bonus and its validity.

Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said in a statement that Karibu Airtel aims to provide more value to mobile subscribers in Kenya who choose Airtel as their preferred telecommunications service provider.‎

“This is our way of welcoming you home to our superior quality network with a great range of value propositions including Airtel UnlimiNet voice and data packages and Airtel Money for sending and receiving money and paying for bills in a convenient and affordable way,” El Youssefi said.

Karibu Airtel is only available for new pre-paid customers joining the Airtel network. The offer does not apply to airtime top ups below Sh20 or two vouchers of Sh10 each. Any recharge of value greater than Sh50 on a new SIM Card will automatically qualify for the Karibu Airtel 50 bonus.
