NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 22 – Paul Muthaura has finally been confirmed as the Capital Markets Authority CEO effective January 2, 2016.

In a gazette notice published on Friday, the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich appointed Muthaura to serve for a period of four years.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 (1) of the Capital Markets Act, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury appoints Paul Muriithi Muthaura to be the Chief Executive of the Capital Markets Authority, for a period of four years, with effect from the 2nd January, 2016,” the gazette notice dated March 24 read.

Muthaura’s confirmation comes after a long wait, having been in an acting capacity for a period of four years, since July 2012.

He took over the position from the then CEO Stella Kilonzo who stepped aside after serving for a period of four years.

Muthaura has a Master’s degree in banking and finance law and has more than 10 years experience in capital markets and over four years experience in law.
