CapitalFM website tops Twitter conversation in 2015

CapitalFM’s news and entertainment website drove half of Twitter conversations for exclusive Kenyan online media outlets. The website received more mentions than Niaje, Ghafla and Mpasho combined in 2015 according to a report compiled by social media monitoring company iStats.

The report is a measure of brand conversations with the aim of outlining the most talked about brands on twitter in Kenya and the most visible brands in Kenya on twitter.

The report, calculated on an algorithm comprising number of mentions, placed CapitalFM (radio and website) as the fifth most mentioned brand in the month of November behind NTV, Citizen TV, KTN and Safaricom.

In the radio category, Ghetto Radio received more mentions than Nation FM, Capital FM and HomeBoyz in the month of November to claim fourth position.

The report is compiled from data based on 1,044,234 tweets spanning across 136 brands. iStats checked unique users, volume of mentions, average following and sentiment.

The top brands with positive sentiments, excluding media, were Durex, Weetabix, KFC, Tusker, Village Market, Carlsberg, Java, Heineken, Jameson and Garden City mall.

In the banking sector, a third of twitter conversations were about KCB followed by Equity, Co-op and Chase Bank.

Samsung lost ground to Infinix and Tecno after leading for the first seven months in 2015.
