, NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27 – You do not have to struggle with getting goods from China any longer. Neither do you need to save up in order to travel to the world’s biggest manufacturer to get commodities.

This is because Chinese e-commerce company, Chinabuy, has been launched in Kenya.

The firm will operate locally as Chinabuy.co.ke and will give Kenyans direct access to over a million different items from Chinese manufacturers and online sites.

Founder and CEO of the Chinabuy Group Joe Zhang said that the move to launch in Kenya follows centuries of trade between China and Africa.

“China and Africa’s trading activities have however increased dramatically since the adoption of online e-commerce as the norm,” said founder and CEO of the Chinabuy Group Joe Zhang.

The website is available in both English and Kiswahili, has a 24/7 localised online customer support and a 365-day return policy for all its products.

In order to enhance customer experience with convenience, the website will offer flexible payment platforms like M-PESA, Airtel Money, PayPal, Credit Cards and other preferred payment.

“Our online platform works to give our customers, 24/7 easy access to a vast array of products at very competitive prices,” added Zhang.

Products to be bought from the website fall under different categories and include products for men, children and women clothing. Other products include cell phones, electronics, cosmetics, toys and much more.

Kenyans will also have a chance to buy directly from Chinese manufacturers who have exclusive agreement with Chinabuy.

According to Chinabuy Group, all products will be sent in through an efficient logistics framework to the Chinabuy Group Logistic Centre in China and will then be dispatched to the end user only after passing strict quality control.

“Chinabuy Group is implementing a new and unique model to make customer’s experience unforgettable by introducing a 24/7 call centre in local languages, different delivery methods up to express delivery of 10 days, quality control and the option to return unused products within a period of 365 days,” read its statement following its launch.

“China is the biggest manufacturer in the world today and using cross border e-commerce, clients from all over the world can buy whatever they want directly from factories in China without middle men and long, costly logistic supply chain at extremely affordable prices. We are honoured that our first branch in Africa is in Kenya,” added Zhang.

The website, which was launched in 2012 by Zhang, a Chinese entrepreneur in the e-commerce sector and Yuval Atad, an Israeli Internet entrepreneur, will have to battle out with already thriving local e-commerce firms such as Jumia, Bidorbuy and Rupu.
