Make Africa competitive, DP Ruto urges leaders

President Museveni called on the need for leaders in the Africa to speak with one voice in addressing the challenges facing the region.

He expressed outrage at the failure by the continent to integrate and work together in solving the problems facing the people was to blame for underdevelopment in the region.

“Africans must come together and speak with one voice if we are to solve the problems facing the people,” said Museveni.

“Kenya or Uganda alone cannot solve the problems facing the continent unless all of us as Africans come together and take a common stand on matters affecting us,” said Museveni.

The President, who was accompanied by First Lady Janet Museveni, condemned the move to charge African leaders at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the expense of serving the people.

He urged the international community to respect the voice of African leaders.

He said the case facing Kenya’s Deputy President should be terminated noting that he (Ruto) and President Uhuru Kenyatta have worked together in uniting Kenyans who were hit by 2008 post election violence.

“As African Union, we opposed the move to charge Kenyan leaders at the ICC but our proposal was rejected because we are not united as Africans,” said Museveni.

President Museveni commended Kenya for its commitment to the integration of the African continent for the sake of peace and development.

He praised Kenya’s efforts to generate more electricity that has led to reduction of cost of power urging other African States to emulate the country.

Leaders from across the globe attended the Prayer Day, which was organized by Uganda MPs.

At least 10 MPs from Kenya led by Clement Wambugu (Mathioya), the Chairman of Kenya’s Parliamentary Prayer Fellowship Group attended the prayers.
