NAIROBI, Kenya, MAY 28 – Regional retailer Nakumatt Holdings has opened the doors to its 53rd outlet in East Africa, at the new Garden City Mall.

The opening of the new store is part of Nakumatt’s ongoing efforts to expand its regional footprint with a mix of urban and upcountry branches ahead of the Nakumatt Westgate hypermarket reopening in mid-July.

To celebrate the new store opening, the retailer has also lined up a variety of bargain discounts on special offer, dubbed the ‘Super Deals on the Super Highway’, running for the next two weeks, at the Nakumatt Garden City and Nakumatt Thika Road Mall stores.

Speaking at the opening of the new branch, Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director, Mr. Atul Shah, said the new Nakumatt Garden City, covering a shopping floor surface of 40,000Square feet has been designed to provide an enhanced all under one roof shopping experience.

The store, he added also features a range of energy efficient retail fit outs such as freezers and chillers as the firm moves to further manage its energy consumption rates.

Anchored on a US$2million investment, the new Nakumatt Garden City features a variety of ‘Shop in Shop’ departmental stores including the second Nakumatt Select (private brand) home furnishings concept store and a well-stocked Nakumatt Beauty Centre.

“Nakumatt is taking the in-store retail experience to a whole new level as we seek to maintain a distinct shopping ambience with the widest variety all under one roof,” Shah explained. “Complementing the in store ambience, we have also installed a range of energy efficient appliances including island freezers and glass door wall chillers,” he added.

The new Nakumatt Garden City also features a collection of ambient sections including an in-store Bakery operated by Ennsvalley, vegetable section operated by Fruit N’ Juici and a fully-fledged butchery operated by Naku Deli.

The store will also house Clarks and Skechers lifestyle footwear stores alongside a compact Kids&Co toy store.

“We remain committed to the needs of our customers, whose lifestyles continue to adjust and this store is our way of showing our customers that we are aware of these changes and aim to make shopping an exciting experience and not just another item on their list of chores,” he said.
