NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 10 – M-Net has launched three new channels on DStv, making it the leading satellite TV provider in Africa.

Speaking during the launch, DStv General Manager Dan Mucira said they were committed to improve subscribers viewing content.

The cable TV will now have provide 119 channels.

Mucira said the viewers will be able to find two of the most popular genres on global television – reality and talk shows – all in one place under these new channels.

These are M-Net Series Showcase (channel 113), M-Net Series Reality (channel 114) and M-Net Series Zone (channel 115).

“M-Net Series Showcase will feature fresh quality content ranging from comedy to drama to crime and suspense. The shows include all new seasons of Army Wives, Mad Men, Criminal Minds and Defiance. This is a channel where the fans of series can enjoy all their favourite shows in one sitting and will also have an opportunity of marathons during weekend screening,” he said.

“Most of the series on this channel will be seen on African TV for the first time, close to their US debuts.”

“The channel caters for those of us who enjoy programming that presents unscripted situations played out by real people and not professional actors. It gives the audience a feeling that we all can have the celebrity life.”

He noted that diversity of content on their platform will ensure that they cater to people of different ages, gender and interests.

“As you are aware, we offer our content to subscribers in five packages, these being, Premium, Compact plus, Compact, Family and Access. These five vary in subscription cost and number of channels offered.”

All three channels will be available to DStv Premium subscribers, whilst DStv Compact customers can follow their favourite series on M-Net Series Zone.
