Ruto said that this will lead to a digitised form of operations including revenue collection, and tax payment among other service delivery means to the public.
“Consolidating them under one ministry will create synergy as opposed to confusion,’’ he said.
Speaking during the launch of Equity and Google Bebapay Card in Nairobi, Ruto asked Kenyans to come out boldly and embrace new technologies to achieve Vision 2030.
“As we launch this Bebapay card today, I am happy that in our life time, Kenyans have come together to give technology a true meaning. In fact, during our recent campaign debates, when we talked about digital and analogue, it had nothing to do with the old or the young generation. It was about technology,’’ said the DP.
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero revealed that plans were underway to train officers from the city council on traffic related matters to relieve traffic policemen on the roads so that they can concentrate on security matters.
Ruto assured that the national government will partner with county governments in ensuring efficiency in service delivery to the increasing population.
The Deputy President said he was optimistic that banks will use the card opportunity to lend loans to their customers instead of relying on log books and title deeds as securities for individuals wishing to take loans.
He stated that the government attaches importance on ICT as it will improve on revenue collection and restore sanity in the matatu industry among other areas.
The Deputy President on the other hand said the government will work closely with ICT professionals and utilise their expertise in different fields so as to benefit from human resource available for the good of all Kenyans.
Ruto said efforts will be made to improve on the authority aimed at checking on traffic related matters which was established by the Ministry of Transport in order to accommodate public participation as demanded by the new constitution.
‘’As Jubilee government, we want to assure Kenyans that any effort aimed at achieving efficient delivery of services to the people, we will support such initiatives,” he vowed.
He added that efforts were being made to improve on the transport industry so that Kenyans living in Nairobi and its environs can be able to leave their personal vehicles at home and use the public vehicles to commute without much hitches.
