Facebook adds ‘direct reply’ option in comments

fb comment

Facebook has announced a new additional feature in the comment section that allows users to reply directly to a specific comment. This new development has been long overdue as sorting out comments has been a hurdle especially for pages that have a lot of engagement.

“You and your readers will have the ability to reply directly to comments left on your Page content and start conversation threads, which will make it easier for you to interact directly with individual readers and keep relevant conversations connected.”

“Also, the most active and engaging conversations among your readers will be surfaced at the top of your posts ensuring that people who visit your Page will see the best conversations,” posted Facebook on their blog, Monday.

Page Admins have the option of turning on and off the ‘reply’ option on their pages but after July 10, 2013, all pages will have the reply option enabled by default.

“When you opt-in, you will see the feature show up on new posts on the Page. Also, the feature will be automatically turned on for profiles with more than 10,000 followers. At launch, this feature will only be available on desktop and we plan to make it available in the Graph API and mobile in the future,” explained Facebook.

Conversation threads are re-ordered by relevance to viewers, and may appear differently to each person based on their connections depending on likes and replies on a comment as frequent spammers will be downgraded.
