NAIROBI, Kenya, July 11 – The private sector has heaped praise on President Mwai Kibaki’s leadership which has created a friendly business environment in the country.
Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) met the President on Wednesday where Vice-Chairman, Vimal Shah thanked the government for its commitment in addressing various bottlenecks that hinder business growth in the country.
KEPSA noted that under the leadership of President Kibaki, major milestones have been achieved towards the creation of a business friendly climate in the country.
The alliance underscored that the presidential public-private sector dialogue initiated when President Kibaki took office has tremendously restored confidence among the business community in the country.
KEPSA expressed satisfaction at the rapid infrastructural development as well as installation of vital facilities that have accelerated business growth in Kenya.
During the occasion, the organisation urged the government to give priority to the installation of the standard gauge railway as well as the review of labour laws to address labour costs for enhanced productivity and competitiveness.
The President thanked KEPSA and other private sector players for initiating a campaign for peaceful elections.
He assured KEPSA members and Kenyans as a whole that the government is putting in place measures to ensure secure, peaceful elections and a smooth transition.
