Orange launches iPhone 4S in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 19 – Mobile phone services provider Orange has launched the iPhone 4S into the Kenyan market.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer Angela Ng’ang’a-Mumo said the launch was consistent with the company’s promise of providing innovative products and services, that are relevant to its market segments and add to the value proposition of its customers.

“Orange is focused on delivering value for the eagle-eyed smart phone user enabling easy access to their social and office lives wherever they are. The Apple iPhone offers excellent variety and versatility that enables customers to embrace the advantages and opportunities offered by an increasingly evolving digital world,” she said.

Users will be able to record videos in 1080p HD and also use the front facing VGA camera for video chatting.

Another first from Apple featured in the iPhone 4S is the new voice-activated personal assistant, Siri. This feature enables a user to query for information by voice, such as the location of the nearest restaurant, hospital, ATM and so on. The voice-activated personal assistant can also be used to make phone calls, send messages, schedule meetings and set reminders.

“With an increased uptake of smart phones in the country, the iPhone 4S adds style and convenience to the variety of smart phones Orange has to offer to customers on its network. This new device, coupled with our attractive tariffs and reliable speeds from our HSPA +21 Mbps network is today an unmatched proposition in the Kenyan market,” she added.

“The iPhone 4S will be available at select Orange Shops to post paid customers on a 12 month contract,” she concluded.

The iPhone 4S is available in either black or white and will retail at Sh74,899 for the 16 GB model, Sh87,999 for the 32 GB model and Sh101,499 for the 64 GB model.
