Wananchi Kenya gets new boss

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 11- Wananchi Group has announced the appointment of Peter Reinartz as its Managing Director for its operations in Kenya.
 
Mr Reinartz, 49, has more than 25 years experience in the “Quadruple Play” services including telecom (fixed and mobile), broadband and content.

“I am pleased to welcome Peter Reinhartz to Wananchi as Managing Director in charge of Kenya. The entire team is looking forward to working with him and sharing his vast expertise in the field of cable TV,” said Richard Bell, the CEO of East Africa Capital Partners, Wananchi Group’s majority shareholders.

In his new role, his focus will be on the roll out of a new Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network in Nairobi and Mombasa and on commercialising “triple play” services offered on the Zuku network.

He will also support Simbanet Kenya with offering data services to enterprise customers.
 
Prior to his appointment at Wananchi Group, Mr Reinartz was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Telkom Kenya and was instrumental in the major restructuring and transformation of the former state owned fixed line operator.
 
Commenting on his appointment the new MD expressed his commitment to play his role and contribute to the group’s business.

“I am really excited to take on this new role, and to working with the team as we continue to build on the success of Wananchi Group and our ambitions to offer unrivalled triple play products and services,” Mr Reinartz said.

He graduated as a Commercial Engineer at the Solvay Business School of The Brussels University. He obtained a postgraduate degree as Master of Industrial Location & Development from the same university.  He also has a Master of Business Administration of the Louvain University.
