Firms gear up for Kenya ICT expo

NAIROBI, Kenya Jul 9 – Players in the ICT sector are gearing up for an inaugural industry expo that seeks to highlight the importance of information as the world constantly undergoes technological transformation.

Organised by industry regulator Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK), the exhibition mid this month will unveil various players under the CCK mandate and key suppliers and partners in the industry.

The three-day expo will see players in IT, telecommunications; broadcasting, postal and courier interact with clients at a launch pad for newcomers in the Kenyan market.

CCK\’s Assistant Director of Communication and Public Relations Mutua Muthusi said: "So far we have over 25 exhibitors cutting across from various sectors and we are glad to have attracted companies that are not resident in Kenya to exhibit." 

"This feedback is a clear indication this expo is overdue and industry players are keen on showcasing their technologies and competitive advantages," he continued.

The exhibition comes as part of the CCK\’s 10 year anniversary celebrations and has been themed "Celebrating Ten Years of Quality Service and Growth."

Besides the expo, the organisers have lined up a series of on the various ICT sub sectors.

Key among these will be the new fibre optic project, the regulatory vision for the next decade and discussions by leading players in the various subsets of ICT.

Coming at a time when the local ICT industry is expecting a boom as a result of the arrival of the fibre optic cable, event organizers expect important deals to be struck at the expo.

 Some of the participants include Zain, Safaricom, Multichoice, Huawei technologies, IWay Africa.
   
The expo is set to run from the July 15 to 17.
