NAIROBI, November 7 – A trade fair to showcase innovative products and services in a bid to enhance competition and creativity among the participating firms has opened in Nairobi.
Over 120 companies have registered for the three-day 21st Century Business Trade Fair which opened at the Oshwal Centre on Thursday and allowing exhibiting firms to markets their commodities at discounted rates.
Mobile Operator Safaricom is the major sponsor of the exhibition whose theme is “Showcasing Innovative Entrepreneurship”.
“The trade fair will allow all exhibiting firms to showcase their products and services as well as initiate business contacts locally and internationally,” said Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Michael Joseph.
Mr Joseph explained that Safaricom had taken a major role in the trade fair with the hope that it would spotlight, emphasise and highlight innovativeness, astute entrepreneurship and expertise within the various sectors of the economy.
The fair is expected to host over 10,000 guests from Friday to Sunday, where exhibitors will have an excellent medium to share knowledge and develop customer-supplier relationships.
It will also offer opportunities to seek information on best industry practices and challenges facing various sectors.
“Innovative products and services have been our main driving force. Safaricom has diversified its services beyond the traditional mobile voice to an integrated voice and data provider, enabling robust and high speed broadband internet access powered by 3G,” Mr Joseph added.
Previously, Safaricom has supported events such as the Engineering Students Exhibition, GMSA Workshop and the Annual Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Expo.
